This isn’t your typical inn experience, but if you’re a laid back person that loves dogs, this is the place for you!
The location is beautiful: There’s a steam out back that you can wade in, plenty of outdoor spaces to relax while you sip a drink, and a fire pit on the side of the house where they have bonfires each Saturday during the summer.
Sandy the Innkeeper is a great guy. He made us feel like we were visiting an old friend from the moment we walked in. My fiancee and I had a night to kill when we arrived so he got us drinks, spent hours chatting with us, gave us dinner recommendations, and even kindled up a blazing fire for us while we watched our dog run around the yard with Layla and Stella. Sandy was also more than happy to watch our pup instead of locking her in the kennel when she was exhausted after hiking up Stratton and we were heading to our next adventure.
Layla and Stella, the two resident dogs, are incredibly sweet. They were perfect companions, greeting us right when we arrived and coming along to swim a little upstream from the Inn. One thing to keep in mind is that while the pups are super well-behaved, they do have free rein of the place so if you’re not a fan of off-leash dogs you may not want to stay here.
We had no issues at all with the room. It was clean and homey and the bed was comfortable.
We didn’t stay for dinner so I can’t comment on the restaurant, but I can say that Sandy makes a mean omelette and french toast!
All in all, we loved the place and the people and we’re planning on coming back within a month.
